Prepare to be gripped! A chilling new psychological horror film, Sender, starring Severance's Britt Lower, promises to plunge viewers into a world of paranoia and mystery. The first look at the film has been revealed, and it's already sparking intrigue.
In the released image, we see Lower's character, seemingly consumed by unease, hunched over a laptop surrounded by a chaotic assortment of cardboard boxes. The film's premise? A woman's life unravels as she receives a series of packages containing disturbingly personal items, leading her down a rabbit hole of suspicion and fear.
Sender marks the directorial debut of Russell Goldman, drawing inspiration from his 2022 short film, Return to Sender. The cast is a veritable who's who of talent, including the legendary Jamie Lee Curtis (who is also producing), Rhea Seehorn, and David Dastmalchian.
Lower, known for her role as Helly R in the mind-bending sci-fi thriller Severance, is joined by Seehorn, who has received critical acclaim for her role in Pluribus, a series from the creator of Breaking Bad. Curtis, a horror icon in her own right, has starred in classics like Halloween, The Fog, and Prom Night. Dastmalchian, a familiar face in the genre, recently starred in Late Night With the Devil.
Jamie Lee Curtis expressed her excitement, stating, "I am so proud to be a part of Russell's first movie, the first of many." She emphasized the collaborative effort and the excitement surrounding this new filmmaker.
But here's where it gets controversial...
While the premise seems straightforward, the concept of a stranger sending personal items could be interpreted in various ways. Is it a stalker? A twisted game? Or something far more sinister?
Sender is set to premiere at the SXSW Film & TV Festival in March. While a wider release date is still pending, the buzz surrounding this film is already building.
