Bible Conversations

Join us at 9am on Sundays for an opportunity to dig deeper into the Bible texts that we'll hear in worship. Pastor Doug leads us in this conversation sharing insights from a variety of sources and invites conversation and questions from participants. You'll also be greeeted by fresh coffee and "fried donuts."

Sunday School

Geared to children under 5th Grade, Sunday School combines children from the Hope and Rehoboth Ethiopian congregations from 11:30—12:30.  We meet in the Sunday School rooms in the Fellowship Hall.  Different types of lessons and activities are planned, all centered around the scriptures used in Hope's 10am service.

Discussions on the Deck

Each summer we have lively conversations on decks about the big questions about life, the world and God. We meet each Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. during the months of June and July. During those months, check the most recent Sunday announcements or contact the church office to discover whose deck we’re meeting on each week.

 Quilters

Hope’s Nimble Thimbles meet on the second and fourth Monday, September through May, from 9:30a.m. until noon.  You are invited to join us as we make quilts that are donated locally to Lutheran Social Services.  No sewing experience is necessary.

 St. Stephen’s Shelter

Hope serves a hot breakfast to the homeless men at St. Stephen’s Shelter on the 5th Sunday of the month.  We meet at church at 7:15am, carpool to the shelter, serve the breakfast, and are back at church by 8:45 or so. If you are not able to help serve, grocery items and/or monetary gifts are also needed.

Serving opportunities for 2018: April 29, July 29, September 30 and December 30

Sign up as many times as you can to bring a meal, and a smile, to these folks!

Feed My Starving Children

Several times a year the community of Hope comes together and serves at Feed My Starving Children. FMSC is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding God's children hungry in body and spirit. Children and adults work together to hand-pack meals designed specifically for starving children. Meals are then shipped to more than 60 countries around the world. Hope also contributes financially to help cover the costs of these meals.

Next FMSC opportunity:  TBD

Habitat for Humanity

Every summer, Hope works with Habitat for Humanity through Nokomis Builds.  For two weeks each summer, members of Hope are onsite working, and serving lunch to workers.  No previous experience is needed to join the crew.

Watch for more information in the Ray of Hope and weekly Sunday announcements to get more information.

Rehoboth Ethiopian Church

Hope shares our space with Rehoboth Ethiopian Church, an independent congregation which worships primarily in Ahmaric.  With a shared mission to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ, we pray for one another and share times of fellowship together. To learn more about Rehoboth Ethiopian Church you can visit their website.

 Choir

At Hope, we see music as a vital tool for discipleship and worship, and we would love to have you to be a part of this ministry!  People of all ages have an opportunity to participate in music ministry.  Contact our music director if you are interested in being a part of our music ministries.

The Choir leads the worship everySunday (September – May).  Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.  During the summer months the ensemble meets once a month on Sunday morning to lead worship.  Additional leadership opportunities for the choir include Rally Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas time, Palm Sunday, Holy Week, Easter and the Music Festival Sunday during the annual Festival of the Arts.
