For 50 years Hope Lutheran Church could be found by locating the letters 'HOPE' emerging from the skyline on the northwest corner of Cedar Avenue and Highway 62.  Recognizing the changing landscape of the place of the church in our society, members of Hope made the bold move to sell the iconic building and disburse the assets for God's mission in the world.  In July 2020 a suitable buyer was found and in October 2020 Iglesia Dios Habla Hoy became the new owner occupant of Hope's former home. On December 27, 2020 the members of Hope Lutheran Church worshipped together on Zoom one last time.

Many members of Hope have transferred their membersip to neighboring ELCA congregations, but hope remains for all of us in our hearts and in our actions.  The legacy of this congregation has never been contained within the walls of a building. While we may not be meeting regularly for worship and fellowship, the stories of hope that you carry are the legacy of Hope Lutheran Church and they should not be buried in the ground or hidden under a basket. To paraphrase the well-known song ...

This Hope story of mine, I'm gonna let it shine!

Tell your stories of Hope to friends, family, and strangers.  This is how the hope of Jesus Christ will live and the legacy of Hope Lutheran Church will carry on.
